WRITTEN TEXTS
Defeatist mood in the newsrooms of Russian propaganda
(CATALAN & SPANISH, 2022)
The Catalan newspaper Ara asked me to write about the state of mind of the Russian journalists working for state media: do they agree with the state? Are they proud of what they do?
I talked to an employee of a Russian state-controlled international television network and tried to answer those questions.
The Age of Cooperation – women leaders reshaping the world in the face of a pandemic
(ENGLISH, 2021)
During the pandemic the medical personnel became the “frontline heroes”. Curiously, these heroes were mostly women. Was the pandemic a chance for women to make a bigger statement as leaders?
Historian Mark Steinberg Explains Why Russians Protest: from Kievan Rus to Vladimir Putin
(ENGLISH, 2020)
For the Reforum.io project I spoke with the history professor at the University of Illinois, and author of many books about Russia - Mark Steinberg - about the true nature of revolutions and protest.
Vladimir Putin against digital media
(SPANISH, 2014)
This longread for Cuadernos de Periodistas is based on my Master’s dissertation.
I talk about the rise of Vladimir Putin to power, his almost immediate move to establish control over state television in the early 2000s, and the simultaneous rise of high-quality journalism online. By 2014 Russia had an extremely developed online culture, with many independent digital media enjoying the audiences of millions of people. Crimea changed everything: Putin realised that the internet had real political power and launched an offensive against the digital media.

Why has Putin launched the war?
(SPANISH & CATALAN, 2022)
On February 24, 2022, Russia launched an invasion into Ukraine. To many people it seemed pure madness: a war of conquest in 21st century Europe! Why did Putin do it? What do the Russians think? Can somebody stop it?

OTHER PUBLICATIONS
As a Geneva Business School faculty member, I work on research projects and business case studies.
INFLUENCER MARKETING: A CASE STUDY
In 2022 I published a case study about Alexandra Mitroshina, an Instagram influencer and feminist activist.
The case encourages a discussion of gender in the beginning. During the session the conversation moves to communication strategies, business strategies, branding, pricing policy and reputational risks. The case study can be downloaded for purchase at the Case Centre.
BOOK ABOUT BARCELONA
After 10 years of life in Barcelona and 2 years of hard work, I wrote a book about Barcelona. It is called “What is Barcelona? Beaches. Independence. Jamón”.
This book:
-
Is non-fiction and based on personally lived experience, dozens of journalistic articles and books, and at least 20 interviews with Barcelona natives, artists, city planners and many more.
-
Covers the city’s history from foundation till the 21st century.
-
Explains the city’s layout and provides a guide to the most important "barrios" of the Catalan capital.
Sadly, this book only exists in Russian. You can purchase it as a gift for your Russian-speaking friends and family members here.
